Water damage inspection and moisture mapping is how we figure out the true extent of water intrusion before starting any drying or repair work – using moisture meters and thermal imaging to trace water that's traveled behind walls, under flooring, or into areas that look completely dry on the surface.
This is often the first call in Old Fields, WV after a leak or flood, but it's also something we do independently when someone suspects a slow leak – a musty smell with no obvious source, a water bill that's spiked, or a stain that keeps reappearing after being cleaned. Hidden moisture is one of the most common causes of mold problems that homeowners don't catch until it's a bigger issue.
We use penetrating and non-penetrating moisture meters to check material moisture content throughout the affected area, along with thermal cameras that can reveal temperature differences indicating trapped moisture behind surfaces. We map out exactly where moisture is present and at what level, which tells us – and you – whether this is a simple surface dry-out or something that requires opening up walls or removing flooring to fully address. You get a clear picture of what's actually going on before any work begins, not a guess.
Cost depends on the size of the area being inspected and whether thermal imaging is needed in addition to standard moisture meter readings.
If you suspect hidden water damage in your Old Fields, WV property, call (507) 853-2142 and we'll find out exactly what's happening before it gets worse.
